Default Raptor VS 400ex

Been riding ever since i was a kid.... last few years have been slow cause my bro went in the army

I sold my warrior....last fall, needed and upgrade to keep up with his pro banshee

and now i am buying a bike tonight...

the choice is between these two

2001 honda 400ex

full skid plat
+2 dynablu axle
nerf bars
yoshimuru exhaust
k&N filter and jet kit
possible a high compression piston

$4,000

or a

2003 Yamaha Raptor (barely riden, nubs still on tires)

basically stock with nerf bars and possible a K&n

$4500

I am diggin the fact that the 400ex is hooked up but the raptor is brand spankin new practially

and its got reverse which will help for the type of riding i do, trails and all

what should i do..i am gonna test ride them both today at 4-ish Eastern time

Well if u want an honest opinion then go with the Raptor, I own a 2003 Raptor 660 and I love it, I just recently purchased a new YFZ 450 yesterday!! but a 400EX holds no candle to a banshee in any form, and is a far way from being like a 660. The 660 has alot moer power. I would suggest that u take the 660, buy a replacement CDI box from White Brothers, put a pipe on it , a jet kit, and K&N air filter. And then your brother will be sick!!! He'll be wanting buy your ride after that.

I had a built shee, and traded for a 400ex for the trails, I really wish I woulda tried harder to find a raptor, and now since I'm in school, and all that crap, I won't be able to get anything new for several years! Good Choice!

well, here's th update...took my Rappy out for its first treads under my control

I am in love, but not in a mushy kinda way....

lets put it this way... out of the big boys there was a z400, scarmbler 500 and a scrambler 400, all of which had pipes and were jetted...

my bike is stock except the nerfs....

if they had doors i would have blown them off...we put em on a straight away and i just walked on by...

can;t wait to put a pipe on it...

i'll have to check in when i am ready to make sure i get the optimal setup..don't wanna go wasting money now ya know
