A used Yamaha Warrior would be pretty cheep.
Also a used Honda 300ex is a pretty low cost sport atv.
Those are both manual shift atv's

If you want an autotranny
a Polaris Trail Blazer 250 or an Polaris Sport 400 are nice quads.

Id get somethin u could keep like a Z400 or a 400ex. Saves you money in the long run. Sure you will crash it a few times but it will be a great riding experience for you .

hes 16 and never touched a a cluth in his life so the 400 ex and 400z is prob to much for him to handle. i would go for a 250 trail blazer ( just to learn on or keep if you like it) they top out around 50. if not that get a 400 trail blazer, scrammy ( the scram and tb 400 are both they same machine just differnt name ) they top out around 67 then after you get used to driving and you think you want a manual shift check out the 400 ex or somthin a lil faster
