I am having some difficulty with my ignition system on a recently purchased 87 kxf 250 tecate 4. The bike has been sitting for about a year and I am unable to get the ignition system to produce a spark. I I have the problem narrowed down to the CDI unit or the stator. I ordered a new CDI. My question is about the stator. I tested the resistance across the stator and I get 70 Ohms. According to my book this is 10 Ohms above normal. Do you think my stator is bad?

Also I was told the tecates have 6 gears is this correct?

 

I dont know about your stator but it is a six speed. Good luck with it they are lots of fun.

 

I am not an expert by any means, I would suggest talking to rickystator.com and see waht they can do for you. They rewound the stator on my mojave and I'm very pleased with it. It's not that expensive to get done.

you might check the coil also

 

I took the coil to the dealer and had it tested they said it was good.
