Modern belts won't stretch..........ones like kevlar won't anyway. A belt won't take the shock load like a chain will though. Well let me say this, size for size. If you get into the big 3" MM belts now they can handle 100's of pounds of torque. But I'm compairing a 3" wide belt to a 1/2 wide chain.
Like I said above, belts don't like grit or mud, so they can't live under these types of stuff for long.
BTW, a belt will transfer power better than a chain; and yes, you will save power with a belt. (more efficient)

belt driven atvs have the belts covererd anyway so mud/water shouldn't be a problem....the reason i ask this is becuz i'm lookin at the vforce and i ride double alot.and was wondering if i was gonna have problems with the belt

Ok, I thought you were talking about a positive drive belt, not a V belt. Now you are talking about something entirely different then what I thought you were talking about. Again, I thought you were talking about a final drive, A.K.A. Harley Gilmer system.
That being said, you will have no problems with a V belt in dirt and mud, they are self cleaning, unlike a Gilmer belt which can wedge the dirt in the grooves in the pulley.
Don't worry about any belt on ATV's. They are well thought out and can handle a lot of power. The only down fall is they don't like to get wet, if they do they slip. But like you have already pointed out, they are sealed up pretty good so that is a rare problem.
Have fun on your new V force, that would be my second quad if a had another 6k laying around.
