do the belts hold up to the same abuse thT the chain drives gets?

The belt drives are only for the transmissions. They are still either shaft or chain for the final drive to the axels

Yes and no. A belt can't hang in the mud like a chain. A Gilmer will slip when muddy. Thats why they only run them on street bikes.

thanks doc.....does the belt hold up well under stress do they get strechted.worn out under load/stress>?
