I think they do OK going up sand hills. V Races

In the first 2 clips, that is me and a few other (Stock Bore) V's racing a Raptor. In the last clip, that's me racing a Banshee and a 450R.

I will tell you this, I have yet to find a dune I can't make. In fact, I like to stop at the bottom of big hills and hammer it from there.
That's a cool video and nice running V's, but those are dinky little hills. I was referring more to stock ones I guess, I couldn't get halfway up Choke Cherry on a stock V with Sand Shark paddles, I weigh 200 pounds. My kid made it with that V, he weighed 80 at the time.

I have seen some at our dunes that were pretty fair runners, the ones which are piped and airboxed get up some of the big hills okay.

That's just the Jetty Hill. It's nuthin, but it's a common place for racing. We have a few good size hill on the Oregon Coast, but nothing like Choke Cherry. Winchester Bay has some of the steepest sand hills you will find but nothing overly tall. The best part is climbing 300+ ft of free fall sand and having to weave around trees at the same time.

One of your problems with the stock V at Choke Cherry was the Sand Sharks.

Probably so on the Sharks, it was a friend's quad. Just ran outta steam and didn't stay on top the sand.

I went to Florence once back in my sandrail days, I would love to do the Oregon dunes now on quads and do those hill shoots with the trees. Uphill obstacle course!!

BTW, you ever getting to St Anthony these days?

I would love to get everywhere one of these days.

I would love to hit St Anthony's, Glamis, Sand Mountain...... and so on, but it's finding the time that is a problem. Hopefully in the next couple of years we will be able to start taking some long trips. Right now, I'm taking over another business and am lucky to find time to go to the Oregon Coast.

I know what you mean, usually Memorial day is our third trip to St A, and this year it will be our first. Kids in sports, added onto the house last fall (ongoing now), two jobs, my riding is vicarious on these sites lately.

Sounds a lot like my life, only we did the 1400 sq. ft. addition to the house 2 years ago, and I am just starting on my 3rd job. Truth is, it's not usually because of me. All of my jobs have a great amount of flexability. On the other hand, my Wife is in the health industry, and her vactions are decided at the beginning of the year, so we have to work around her schedule.

I want to go take a run up Choke Cherry and China Wall and Sand Mountain, I just need to quit talking about riding them and make plans to do it. Some day.

check out the new Renegade on the Bombardier forum. It is a sport 4x4 with IRS and the BRP 800 v-twin with EFI. Should be really fast.

Yeah we lie in the beds we make. I have all the job flexibility in the world, an online business I can operate from about anywhere, and my lumber broker job which requires but a phone. However I'm a busy type A person and always have more going on than hours in the day. But this year has been exceptionally swamped. If I'm not selling lumber, I'm on the computer or packing up shipments, or out in the yard with a shovel/hammer/chopsaw/paintbrush/trowel you name it in my hand, hell I haven't brewed any beer in a year and haven't burned any gunpowder in a month. I need a clone! (but the damn clone would be runnin' the YFZ up Devil's Dune while I was working no doubt...)

Guy I know outruns my buddies KFX400 and raptor 660 on his KFX700 all the time. This is on dirt so who knows what might happen on the road. But the 700 puts 2-3 quad lengths on it everytime.

If you were only drag racing a auto would be better. Impossible to outshift an automatic.

The kfx700 seems pretty beastly. If it was lighter and had a manual tranny it would probably be more popular.

A guy that I ride with has a V Force that has dual DMC Alien pipes, aftermarket cams, and tranmition adjustments. We went riding down in Oklahoma and he dyno'd it and it only topped out at around 42 or 43 hp. as for drags it seems like he gets the hole shot because of the automatic trans. but soon gets caught when the 450s and banshees hit third.
