Suzuki Z250 - Too Small for me??
OldGrump,
a lot of the old sport quads are still around or just recently discontinued. The 300ex and Raptor 350(Warrior) are examples. I had a new 230 Quadsport in '86 when I was only 14 and 150lbs. I got bored with the power it had after about 6 months. The new z250 has the same size engine as that old Quadsport, but has shaft drive and an auto clutch which will both deprive it of performance potential. At 235lbs the z will move you around, sure. But by spending a little more up front you will get more power, a bigger, more comfortable frame, and better suspension. If your wife is not an experienced rider, then a z250 is a good quad for her. Plus you can always keep it for when your kids get bigger while moving your wife into something better.

Well guys thanks for all the input. I am now looking at either a Z-400 or a KFX400 . I know they are the same bike. Just cant make up my mind White or Lime Green. Both of them look good!! maybe I'll flip a coin or ask the kids. .

MY wife just bought a Z250 today. We didn't pick it up yet, the local delaer is trying to locate a yellow '05 model for her. The size is very close to the Z400. I had bought an older Warrior to restore for her, but she really prefers an auto clutch. The Z250 has a bigger carb. and engine than the Honda 250EX (229cc).

250cc quads are way too small for full sized adults. I bought a Yamaha Bear Tracker for my wife and she liked it at first, and it worked well for trail riding. After a couple of years we started to ride more challenging trails. On one outing we were trying to get over a hill and that little quad just didn't have the power to make it. I tried to force it over by getting a running start and just at the top the quad ran out of power and slid backwards until it flipped over and rode me the rest of the way down. My wife now owns an 04 Grizzly no more hill problems. I still own the Bear Tracker and still ride it but I am acutely aware of it's limitations. It's a great loaner quad for visiting family and the kids ride it and have a blast. Adults need 400cc minimum or sooner or later you'll end up in a situation where having too little power could be more dangerous then too much.

I like larger engines also. There is nothing like not having the power to make it up a hill. For this reason, I purchased a KFX 700. It has a lot of power. My GPS says it will go 72 MPH on hard ground. You do have to be careful with flipping it over. I have a friend that rode it 3 feet before it went over on him. He rode in a flight for life helicopter to the nearest hospital. He is ok. Get the larger engine with the suspension you like. You can always tune it down until you want more power.

Well Guys its been a while since I have been on here. I bought my wife a Suzuki Z-250 and she loves . I took it for a spin. It fits me comfortably and had plenty of power. I'm still thinking of a Z-400 but if I had to buy me a Z-250 for myself I wouldnt have any regrets. have fun and keep riding.
