yamaha banshee vs honda 250r

which is faster stock vs stock in a drag race.
i really like the banshee but you cant trail ride very good with out it over heating.
which is better in the dunes,(stock)with paddles, and which is a better jumper. which one would bottom out more on big jumps.
if i buy a used banshee it will be like a 95 or 96 is there any problems i should watch out for.

I would like to cast a little different light on this. Stock for stock the Banshee is faster. The Banshee also jumps and lands better once you get used to the more rearward positioning required. The 250R handles better, but, the suspension is softer so it picks up the little stuff better. It is also a better slider and turns more predictably. I ride in Tucson AZ during the summer and have never overheated the Banshee, but I don't ride very tight trails. Everybody knocks the Banshee for its bad handling, but I think that it is a carry over from the magazine reviews. I am not biased, I have a 98 Banshee and an 88 250R. I use Paul Turner mid range pipes on the 'shee and it has fair amount of tork in the low midrange and awesome power on up. Unless you are racing at the most competative levels, or are finding yourself in very tight trails, you will be quite pleased with either of these machines. I personally prefer my Banshee. In Fact, I will trade my R for a Banshee in good condition!

I ride with warriors and banshees, we go through the trails as well as the open track and some fields and whatnot... I've never seen them have a heat issue. I can tell you this.. they rock in the sand pits.
Just my 2 cents

I am the only guy out of all my riding buddies who has a banshee, they all have R's. I am also the fastest. My banshee was stock and I could beat all of them pretty bad and they all have minor engine mods and pipes. I can jump just as high and go just as fast around a track. I can also ride really hard and never overheat. The whole bull $hit about banshee's handleing bad is just like what ridzhard said about being a carry over from the mags. Banshees are awsome bikes and i wouldn't trade mine for anything.

I ain't no Banshee expert but all I can say is they look amazingly fast...especially after a few mods!
I went to a huge indoor Motcross event that had quad races. The Banshee beat all others by at least 1/2 of a lap! I found that pretty amazing to watch.
