Raptor has more power and speed and better shocks. Z400 is more nimble, lighter, not as top heavy. If your only getting one or the other i like the raptor better.

Yes but the z does handle better. Plus with the 600-700 dollars u save you can put a pipe and a cam. Or anything u want. Personally i think the z can take the rider farther when pushing it to the edge. The raptor u can find its limits real quick. u can push the z harder. Plus from what ive seen the z is far more reliable, and easier to work on. I have both if you decide on a raptor i am selling mine for $4000. It runs and looks good. But the z is funner all around. Except for 3rd and 4th power wheelies. And maybe dragracin.

Slow paced trail riding is no problem. It is just when your getting on it, it becomes a handful. It wants to go up on the back wheels and when u make a sharp turn at over 10 mph it becomes a little unnerving. But they are fun to ride though. Even with the crappy turf tamers on it now it will still stand up in 4th on gravel with out any clutch work, i only weight 150lbs, so if your any heivier you should have no problems with that.

I love my raptor and still wouldnt buy any other quad out there for me today

I have upgraded my raptor, but the only real upgrade necessary for having fun is the elka suspension....by far my best upgrade and doubled my "fun" factor

LTZ 400 is a pretty nice machine. I have ridden around both machines, and if I was to choose one of the two: Suzuki would be my Choice
