Dirt bikes more expensive??? He figures he can ride a CRF450 right out of the box, and the CRF has about the same MSRP as the YFZ.
With the quad, you are going to have to buy: a-arms, shocks, wider axle, rims, tires, etc. All that aftermarket stuff is going to be thousands of $$$$$ extra, just to get started.
I have to say that his motor is still going strong. It is his frame and swingarm that are trashed. The swingarm has a huge X-shaped crack right down the middle. A foot peg broke off. The bike is unrideable. But, for the recreational rider, the bike should hold up alright.

I was going to say, thumper dirtbikes are expensive. That is one of the big reasons why I race a 2-stroke, a LOT cheaper. But if you add in aftermarket parts I could see a dirtbike being cheaper.

i hope you mean MX quad... cuz if you cant figure out why their dirt"bikes" are so narrow then..... lol j/k
the yfz has a real wide stance to start out with, it has a really low center of gravity, and its not tippy. if your going to race mx then you are probably going to buy newer, stronger, wider, a arms anyways. i dont think yamaha would want to make that standard and drive up the MSRP. who knows tho. its wide enough for me stock tho.
