Enforcer, that is GREAT to hear about St. Joe since I am not too far away (Arnold). Do you see any utes that maybe a little on the sportier side having a good time out there as well or is it almost all sports??

You will see just as many utility quads as sport quads at St. joe....
The sportiest utility I have ever seen is the new Yamaha Wolverine 450 4x4....
My dad has a Kawasaki prairie 650 and its nice as well.....

Hey Stocks, I was 32 when I bought my first quad. It was a z400. But after a year I want more. Of course to begin with it was plenty of power. I am 6'3" 210 and it was scary at first. But if you read a lot in this forum, everyone is modifying their bike. That is because we get used to them quickly and want more. My advice is to buy big enough to grow into. You are going to crash no matter what bike you have...just learn to ride to your abilities, then push the bike to it's limits.

Hey, I am 6'2" and 200lbs and riding a 300, but anyway I would have to say to go with a bigger bike then what you really want, cause you will 4sure want something with more ***** after you get used to it. I wish ya luck in the trip into the world of atving!!!!

I bought my first quad last year when I was 32, I bought the 2004 Bomb ds650 BajaX. I looked around for a long time before I bought like you are doing. Make sure you sit on a bunch of different bikes and get a good feel for them. I went with the ds650 because I am 6'2" and 190 and the other quads just seemed too small. I also wanted something that was going to hold up to some abuse. If you look at the A-arms on the front of the ds they are bigger than all the other quads, it also has the most travel front and rear. EnForcer is right though, I do wish I had a reverse gear if for nothing else backing it out of the garage. Get on the bikes start rocking back and forth on them and see which one feels the most stable and most comfortable.

For sport i would check into the Raptor 660, Ds650, KFX 700 if you want auto. The 450r and YFZ are gonna be kinda small for you. They are for me 6'0" 180. But as for utility ATV action i believe had a shootout involving the Rincon 650 and it did extremely well. Fast, sporty for a big ute, and will definately fit you since you prefer Honda's.

My cousin is about your size and he looked kinda big on our Raptor, forget the YFZ or Z400 he dwarfed them. He sat on a DS650 and looked like he found a home there. I would say Raptor or DS just so you don't feel cramped after some seat time. Lots of good deals on clean used Raptors out there too.
