Default foot shifter help?

Hi,

Today I got a pair of Alpinestars Tech 6 motocross boots to wear when I ride my z-400. However I noticed it was nearly impossible to get my toes under to shift so I pulled the shifter off and set it up a couple cogs. Its about 1" higher than the foot peg and seems allright but will take some getting used to, thats for sure. Is that normal or do ppl leave it stock and get used to it? 1" too high?

I had that same problem when I used to wear race boots. It takes some getting used too. But it you set it up too high you'll find yourself accendentally hitting it and shifting down.
