Default Snaped my axle!

Durablue replaces one for free, if you break more than one you get them below dealer cost at 175 each. Personally I've never broken one and I've had quite a few. Some have been used on one bike then transferred to another and seen years and years of duty like the one I currently have. It was on a friend's banshee for 2 years before I got it and I've had it for another two or three.

Well, I have heard bad things about Durablue. In fact, I've bent a couple but never broken one. My Lonestar is a good axle, it's taken some seriously hard hits and I haven't bent or broken it yet. I've heard the RPM's are great axles, but they are pricey. Lonestar also has a replacement warranty if you break the axle.

I've watched and heard tales of the hubs rounding the splines out and watched the locknut shred on too many lonestars to recommend them, especially over Durablue which has been good for me. I say if you really care about the axle that much just go and get an RPM, they are the top of the line for standard axles.

There is only one bad Durablue model that I know of, the x-33. It is hollow.

Hmm, cant see through mine. They are the lightest axle availible from anywhere but a specialty shop/manufacturer but I don't believe they are hollow. I believe a good deal of the weight savings comes from replacement of the hubs.

They really are hollow, that's what makes them so light. They're solid at the ends, but the thick part in the middle and about halfway to the hub is a tapered hollowed cavity.

Well since I've never snapped one off I cant say so I'll take recon's word for it. Assuming then that it's hollow, how hollow is it? Are we talking a pinhole through the shaft or is it thinner than a cardboard tube?

Hollow, as in empty, not transparent.
