Snaped my axle!
#1
So i was jumpin my 450r yesterday and i hit this like 50ft double, i landed perfect on landing ramp. Didnt bottem out the suspention or anything. But when i landed it sounded like a stick broke and the next think i saw was one of my brand new holeshot tires rolling past me. The stock axle snapeped off right at the hub!!! I dont what why it broke. I have landed way harded tons of times! But nothing i can do now. I have been looking at some afermarket axles and i have a couple questions. First, is it necessary to change out my axle bearings??? Its an 05 450r, i got it in april so i have just been riding it this summer. But if it is best to get new bearings with a new axle i will. Second question is, what axle to get??? I dont race, but i ride hard and do ride on some practice tracks. I plan on keepin stock suspention too. I dont want another stock axle cause ill prolly break that too. But i dont need the top of the line either. I was looking at this one G Force axle thats in rocky mountain atv. Its only $199 so the price is nice, but if its crap i dont want it. Ive never bought a aftermarket axle so im not too sure.
What axle do you think would work good for me?
thanks

I've heard lots of good things about the gforce for recreational riders, but racers bend and break them left and right. I'm a big fan of the durablue line, been using them for almost twenty years now with no problems. I've go an x33 on my raptor and I love it.

I have been racing on my G-force axle since March and haven't had any problem. I race motocross on a YFZ450 and abuse the crap out of it. I have bent Durablue axles before and when I saw the G-force had replacement warranty I figured it was worth a try. I totally recomend it. I have been real happy with mine. I hear lonestar are good too though. I got mine from rocky mountain atv.

I have a G-force in my 450r. I weigh about 260 pounds and can jump with the rest of the quads, at the dunes. The axle is about a year old and its fine. If you are just doing the general riding save the money and get a g-force.

Being 6'5" and about 320 lbs. I would highly recommend the G-Force axle from Rocky Mountain ATV.
Although I do not race my 02' Raptor 660, I too like mxchamps ride mostly my local MX track jumping everything from small doubles to huge triples and step-ups. However I do have aftermarket long-travel a-arms (Herrmann's) and Elka's catching my weight.
Put it simply, if man makes it another man can break or bend it eventually. The G-Force is not the most expensive and probably not the best money can buy, but for about $199 and some change it holds my fat @@s well and has a very good warranty to boot.
Bottom line..."It's not the arrow, it's the Indian".

u sid u landed way harder b4? well thats y it broke. the axels get weeker n weeker as u jump. same thing happend to my 400ex i jump rilly big and one dy i took a small single and jumped only 1.5 feet high n the axel broke by the hub and i saw my hole shot tire role past me. i thought it was just my center of my rim that broke but nope it was the axel. i would go for a lonestar cuz it has a life time garintee. no axel is going to last for eva so get a life time garinty axel. dont get dura blue. durablue claims a lifetime garintee but it actuly ends up costing u money.
