Default loss of power...

it seems like my 250x has no power in 2nd gear. It lacks alot of power in 2nd gear now that I think of it. I dont know if it was ever rebuilt by the previous owners, but what is usually done when this happens. I want to fix the problem this winter.

I don't know how you could only lose power in 2nd gear. If you lost power through all the gears a rebuild might be what you need. Did you lose power gradually or did it go all at once?

Its not that, I just feel like it wants to go faster than it is. I unfortunately alos just found out that I have a small hole between the size of a pin hole and pencil tip on the bottom of the silencer. Im gonna get an aftermarket exhaust and a kn filter once I get the money. Im also gonna get smaller tooth sprocket for the front and maybe the same for the rear or more teeth.

does it smoke at all? if the motor needs rebuilt there would be blue exhuast smoke all the time, at least that's what my recon did when it needed rebuilt. Does the power feel normal in the other gears or did all of them lose power and not just 2nd?

if you think that might be the case ride another quad that should be close to yours in performance or race yours against another quad with about the same performance for a comparison

I noticed you said you were going to gear it down. I bet if you geared it up you'd like it better, it would allow 2nd gear to rev out a little longer and go a little faster. If your not having the problem in all the gears, than it's not a jetting issue.
