A word of warning, you should definetly gusset the frame at the top shock mounts. My friend's '03 frame cracked on both sides.
Just trying to save you some trouble.

 

Thanks for the warning but from the information on this and other forums I've read the frame problems were limited to the early '03's and was fixed later that year. I've read posts from people who have frame problems and also people who have thrashed their '03 with no problems. I think it's a safe bet that if the frame on this bike hasn't cracked around the shock towers by now it probably won't. But I am going to keep a close eye on it. Also, I don't do big jumps or bottom out the suspension much, mostly trail riding. I am going to ride this bike in a couple of hare scrambles soon but I don't ride very hard.... quick, steady and no mistakes works good for me.

 

I've also heard it said that if the 03/04 z and kfx had the shocks from the 05/06, that they probably wouldn't have had any frame problems. I'm glad they did have the problems though, because that led to the development of the better frame.
