16 yr old, 150 pd or so, 6 ft, Been riding for 6 or 7 years, Own a 05' 250ex, Dad has a 06' kfx700, Sister has a 06' 300ex, we go riding all the time, need something alot faster and bigger, just seeing what everyone thinks I should go with. I Love the style of the orange 06' kfx400, just everything about it not sure about the power/speed, do you think its a good enuf bike to get, was kinda between the kfx400 and the 400ex but just gonna see what you guys think. But I think im gonna stay with the Honda/Kal Brand. But idk yet, Just throw in some advice. Thanks

 

it depends on your budget,,,,but either the 400ex of the kfx400 would be a great choice

 

Prob around 6 grand or so.

 

Buy 1 a step above your ability so you don't outgrow it to quick. Either 400 should keep you smiling for years, but as far as it keeping up to your dads, a few mods might be in order. lol good luck with your choice, its hard to go wrong as long as your happy with your choice. jm.02.

incase you dont know, the KFX400 is just a rebadged Suzuki LT400. everything is the same exept for the plastics. and as far as your selection, the KFX700 is fast, so your gonna need something that has enough power if you wanna hang with him. though, since your moving from a 250, i would stay still stick with these 400s. the 400 ex has been around for a really long time so there are alot of mods out for it, though the KFX/LT 400 is faster out of the box and more updated. the 400's really havent been technologiclly improved over the years aside from getting a reverse gear and new plastics.

 

Yea, I knew the kfx400 was the z400, but i like the style of the kfx alot more than the z.
im not movin up from a 250 really, i have the 250 for money reasons, cheap and i needed something to ride, at the time i didnt care weather it was fast or had power, just so i could go riding with my dad and what not, and to play around on at the house with friends, and so on, but i used to have a banshee yr an a half ago for a lilttle not long, maybe 2 months and sold it for a truck, now im getting a job and ill have a way to work and ill only be paying for my insurance, so ill have around $300 a month after insurance or more to blow. for gas ect.

 

Me personally If I had to choose I'd go with the kfx400. But that s just my opinion.

 

Yea im leaning that way lol, Im Likein the looks of that plastic. Been reading the forums, Looks tho there are a few probs people have came across with the kfx, and i kno the 400ex is reliable.

 

Nothing against the honda 400ex but I cant think of anything that the 400ex is better at than the kfx 400 besides easier to ride slow so I would go with the kfx 400. I think the kfx is nicer looking than the lt400 also. i even like the arctic cats 400 more than the lt400. you can find used ones fairly cheap also.
