Default twist or thumb?

I know most guys who race MX prefer twist throttle, but it seems a lot of woods guys like twist also.

Personally I didn't like a twist throttle in the woods at all. In the wide open tracks it seems fine, but in the technical stuff it was very sketchy for me.

Just wondering what most of you guys prefer.

Default twist or thumb?

I have a thumb throttle right now and Im looking to get a twist throttle because it reduces wrist and arm stress. My friend has a twist throttle and we race in the woods and he does fine. He likes his better then a thumb. I have drove it and it was ok, it just takes some getting use too.

The twist is great for mx. It took alot of geting use to in the woods. I had alot of problem at first in rock bars. Now I love my twist throttle. I can ride harder for longer peroids of time. I've had one on my quad for 2 years.

I'm never going to put a twist throttle on a quad. I've tried riding one before, and it resulted in a race-built 440ex with a mangled front bumper, a slightly pissed off owner, and a badly bruised ego. I don't get what everyone cries about with thumb throttle being too tiring to use, even when I was a weak little 12 year old I could ride all day without any kind of fatigue from the throttle. Now my edelbrock has a stiffer pull and longer range of motion than any other quad I rode, and I still don't get the slightest hint of soreness. Everything else on my body hurts or is completely numb after a hard ride though.

i love twist throttles because you can hold onto the hand grip alot better than just resting on top with the thumb. Also as long as you take the time and do a ride or two ( or three) to get used to it, you wont have ANY of the peoblems that people here say they can cause.( such as falling back and twisting the throttle wide open) I can garuantee those wont happen.

read this

i qwould say that they are better overall, not just the fact that your thumb wont get a sore anymore. I say get it and once you get the hang oof it you will love it.

personally i like thumb because it is a less risk kinda thing. if ur about to crash or somthing and you get scared u tense up and you might twisth teh throttel, its easier to let go of the thumb

It's a twist for me, it works way better. I used to try to ride trails with my thumber, that is until one day I went over some rough roots and stabbed the throttle. I ended up off the trail in some bushes.

I have seen some twist throttle applications where the guy didn't have the thing adjusted right. The twist wouldn't instantly return to idle when you let go of it.

you should just get it SS, the thing is that most of the people here that say you will have problems have really never used one and took the time to adjust to it and they just figure your gonna be a pro after one ride.

For MX/Racing a twist throttle is great but, for trail riding or if your riding on any terrian thats not smooth the twist throttle sucks, because when you hit the bumps your hand moves so you end up gunning it or stalling out.
