how good is a 300ex

On a scale from 1-10 what would you rank a 300ex? Hows the handling, top speed, acceleration and all that othe stuff. I have about 3000 bucks and im not sure what quad to buy. So please give me some opinions

If it was me...for $3k, I'd look for a nice used 400ex (unless you need reverse for tight trails) or a Raptor 660. You might even find a Z/KFX 400, but I doubt it.

The 300ex is a fun and reliable trail bike, but it takes a lot of work to make it competetive with the newer and bigger sport quads. For $3000 you can get a 400ex or raptor 660 and you won't get tired of the power and performance as quickly as you will with the 300. If you get a 300 you will probably be wanting more performance soon, then either you will end up trading it for a bigger one, or get into modifying it and that turns into a money pit real quick (as i'm learning with my warrior)

well recon99 if he finds a rappy for 3000 it would prob be a 01 and they had tranny prob unless its got the 02 tranny in it.. But then agine where he is at quads mite be cheeper there than thay are in oklahoma...if he is wanting something small like a 300 ex..a z400 mite be the better bet...Or ever a warrior is a really good quad...and you can find them for around 3000..

I picked up a 300 last fall, for 1500 bucks. Runs and shifts as good as when it was new, and i knew its had the crapp pounded out of it.
The oil was thick and jet black, and almost a quart low, the tie rods needed replacement, and it needed brakes and tires. I did some careful shopping on ebay and other areas, and for another 300 bucks, ive got a fun machine, thats easy to ride, will pull in the lower revs, and gets good milage and has a very high fun factor. Plus, i dont worry about scratching or denting it. Its lightweight and steers on a dime. Wheelies are just a thumb stab away.
I cant keep up with the younger guys on the 400s, but thats due more to my advanced years than the quad.
Id say there are lots of worse choices out there, but for me, this is the one i wanted.
You dont need to spend 3000, to get a good 300ex, if you look, youll find a good deal

If all you are going to do is trail ride and play around the 300ex will do. But if you are going to race you should try to find a used 400ex or z/kfx
