I agree sand stars are real heavy and do not have much flex to them at all.

For the 300ex you don't want too much hookup. The Sandstars are really too much even for a Z400 in stock form (you have to be in 2nd gear up any kind of hill). I was a little disappointed when I put them on my stock Z400. I geared it down a tooth on the front sprocket which helped, but I wasn't really satisfied until I put the pipe on. I have two raptors, one with sand sharks, the other with sand stars and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. I just picked up a set of used (practically new) seven paddle skat traks for $100 but I haven't tried them yet. I'm anxious to see how they compare. If you are going to do any jumping I'd go with an 8 inch .160 rim. The bigger the rim diameter, the less tire which will affect the ride (less tire to flex = more bumpy and harsher landings). The lighter you can go for tire/rim for your riding style the better it will do.
To sum up, gear the front sprocket down a tooth (only about $10), look on www.rockymountainatv.com and there is a Skat Trak Glider specifically designed for 350cc and less four strokes, you can get a package for $181.99 (includes 2 6 paddle 20x10x8 on .125 douglass rims) or for about $10 more you can get the .160 rims. The Sand star package is only $2 cheaper. I would definately go with the Gliders. If you are going to ride the dunes much, I'd either get a 400cc machine or bigger or at least put on a full pipe, remove your airbox lid, and rejet (rejetting is a must with full pipe)

I totally agree with yoshz.
I think you will regret getting a sand tire with too much bite/weight on a quad that does not have the power to break them loose.
The Glider is like the hauler but has less weight, the paddles are a little shorter and comes with 6 paddles.
If you still want a V style tire the Skat-Trak edge is also a good choice and can be purchased in a 6 paddle design for smaller engines.
