sport quad vs dirt bike???
#1
Ive really searched for this but havnt turned up anything. I plan on buying either a dirtbike or sport quad very soon and Im not sure what to get or how they compare. i used to ride both but havnt touched either for about 5 years so Ill need to get used to them again. Im 19 and weight about 140 if that makes a difference. I want something that I can take my time and cruise around on as i want to go for long rides but i also want something that can really get up and go if I want. I will mostly be riding in open fields or trails towards the mountains. how would these two compare on different terrain types? I really want something I can get dirty in. I suppose I really would appreciate just about any information I can get comparing the two.

I agree with powerstroke01. Quads and bikes do mix, but it may be more fun overall if you are all on the same type of vehicle. Personally I am a quad guy. Bikes are cool and all, but I never have really taken the time to master the learning curve. Also, quads can be a 4 season toy while you pretty much have to put the bike up unless you are going indoor or ice racing.

Welcome to the forum bigCtotheZ, If your mainly doing wide open riding or widee trails(roads) then go with the quad. If you want to ride any single track then get the bike. I think the dirt bike is more versatile but thats what I ride. Others here probubly wont agree.

you can definetly go more places with a dirtbike and are faster than quads but there also more harder to drive and a steeper learning curve. Also much more tireing than riding a quad especially if you ride in sandy type terrain.

I've always had the problem with the bike falling on me or falling off of the bike. i have just never gotten the dirtbike thing and i got fed up with the pain and problems of having a 200 pound thing fall on you.
i switched to my predator and ive been happy since, i ride with abunch of dirtbikers and aside from me not being able to jump as high as them, i always beat 'em

I have also found the being able to ride a dirt bike then going to a atv makes you a much better rider. Alot of the same riding rules apply but on the bike you have to be much more accurate in when and what you do with less forgiveness.

Like some has already suggested, I would get what most of your riding buddies have. That is what I did until I was fortunate enough to own one of each. (Actually, my quad is my Fiance's)
