twist throttle issues
#1
I recently had to put a motiopn pro twist throttle on my raptor 660 cause the stock one broke, and it was doing alright for the first few times i rode it (im in pennsylvania for college so only get to ride like once a month) but the last time i took it out i'd rev it up, and it would take like four or five seconds to rev back down, very unusual compared to what it used to do, when i let off the throttle goes back to idle like normal, its not like its sticking open and i dont know whats up with that.
i almost wrecked the first time it happent scared the $hit out of me!!!!
If anybody knows whats up id appreciate it if you could help.....if not oh well

i have already been in one pretty severe dirtbike accident, and am not looking for another....Labor day weekend a couple years ago i wrecked a 1986 honda fat cat (old dirtbike with quad type tires) into a 1998 yamaha kodiak 400 4x4 and i ended up almost losing my leg, but luckily i only had to get like 30 staples across my knee and lost a toe. i was in the hospital for a couple of weeks and in a wheelchair for a few months!!

When the throtle stuck open, I was headed for a wall. From a wheelie, I had to lay it down or hit the wall. Found the brake at the last second, but in all the panic I couldn't manage to pull the clutch.

natty, did you replace the throttle cable as well? My CR250 started to do this and come to find out there was a little tear in the cable, that was enough to make it stick a little. I just replaced it and all is well now.
Also, if you get new bars it really help to sand down the bars a little where the twist throttle goes on. Don't push the throttle tube all the way in either, leave it out about a 1/4" so it has a little play and twist freely.

i took the whole assembly off, and it turns out that i must have got water and dirt between the bar and plastic sleve last time i rode it, a few months ago, and it was starting to get real ruff and almost rust like, so sanded it down and it works a lot bit better
i think that im going to replace the cable next time im home, but i had to leave indiana and head back to pennsylvania for summer semester. (one more semester and thats it, ill have my associated degree in ATC)
all my buddies told me to put a thumb throttle back on but once ive rode with a twist i dont think i want another thumb!!!!!!!
