Default HELP!!! ATC 250R fuel mix question???

I just purchased an 85' 250R and I was told by a local shop~"the sticker on the neck is for a "Honda" oil mix(20:1)... the mix oil these days is far superior in lubrication so I would be able to get away with a mix of "Motul" 40:1.... has anyone tinkered with this ... and is he right ???? any info would be helpful... cause my bike is burning alot! of oil nowadays.

The guy is correct.
I have run 40 to 50 to 1 in every two stroke I own. Never locked one up or garffed a piston in my life and I don't run fancy synthetics either.

check out amsoil dominator at 50.1. i get the big jug and if you break it down...its cheaper than the quart bottles and the protection is top notch!

I still run the 20:1 in my 250r, haven't had any probs yet, it doesn't even smoke that much so I think I'm gonna stick with the 20:1, my dads been running that in his LT250R since it was brand new and he hasn't had any probs either.
