Default Winter tires

I have a set of stock tires I want to stud for the winter (Banshee). I was thinking of 1/4 to 5/16 hex head screws (sheet metal type), as the treads measure 1/2 inch. Will I have any problems with these staying in the knobbies? Should I use a rubber glue on the threads? Is there another type of screw which will work better? Or should I just ride on my Holeshot HD's? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the replies. I found the Maverick ice screws for sale as I couldn't find any cold cutters. I will try them out. I didn't realize this could be such a science (reading ice racing threads). I just want some traction for the winter when the 4x4 is being used by my better half. I appreciate the information guys!

P.S.- I found them...they are Kold cutter screws...thanks again for the info.!!!
