well i have an 02 660 with a moose pipe thats about all the performance mods i have on it. But in thinking about selling it for a 02-07 z400. do you think thats a wize choise? I have herd the z400 has close to 40hp and i think the raptor is around 35 stock. so do the differ in power buy a lot or are they close. i just do trail riding most of the time. and also i heard that the suspension is better on the z400.

Not sure where you got 40 hp for a Z400 but that is being very optimistic. A stock Z400 is pushing very close to 30 hp and the Raptor 660 is around the 35 - 36 hp stock. So you would be taking a pretty big hit going from the Raptor down to a Z400.
There are several dyno charts out there showing the Z400 and most are right around 28-30 hp. As with all dynos they can vary significantly from one to another though. This one puts the Z400 at 29.35 and a 400ex at 25.98 and the Raptor 660 at 36.04.
Z400, 400ex and 660 Dyno.

A few thoughts:
LTZ400 was released in 2003, you don't want the 03 models or really the 04. You'll really want the shock and engine upgrades they did in either 05 or 06.
None of the LTZ400's have 40 rear wheel hp, right around 30.
A 660 raptor makes more power from a pipe and filter upgrade than an LTZ400.
The suspension and handling is much better on the Z.
If you're pretty happy with what you have, keep it. A few parts here and there and you can noticeably improve the handling of the 660. If you're able to get an LTZ at a good deal and you're not going to lose money then I'd think about it.
I'd also suggest posting this question in the Suzuki or Yamaha forums, as you'll get a lot more replies and opinions.

HP aside, in real world applications the z400 (stock) and the 660 (stock) are fairly close in speed with the 660 being just a hair faster...
After mods, it seems that the 660 keeps that gap and sometimes widens it.........
But as has been said the handling of the z400 is vastly better and whatever HP advantage the 660 has will be lost on a track or in the tight woods......
Either way it sounds like kind of a lateral move for you and you might be better suited to jump on a yfz450 or trx450r..... Of course if you want reverse go and pluck 7k down on a kfx450r.
