Plus Doug Eichner in the WORCS series is on one, and got Polaris it's 1st ever national Pro win on it 2nd race. He got 2nd on it's 1st race. And the WORCS allways has a full MX track as part of the race. He got the win on a near stock Outlaw going against fully decked 450's. Then this weekend, a Outlaw got 5th in the pro class in the Baja 500 in it's debut race. Stock chassie other then shocks. Pretty impressive compared to the other fully modded quads.

Great engine don't get me wrong, but your shop guy needs to check the correction factor or the calibration of his dynomometer.

Sorry, cant help it if your turning green with envy, maddog56. These motors are rated with 51.5hp from the factory. I guess your raptor proves bigger isn't always better.
Don't rain on my parade!

Lets be realistic here...ALL dirt bike engines are detuned for atv use.....good luck getting low-mid 40's stock and last I hear the 525's are not running off and leaving any of the top sport quads in the dust. I don't think Maddog is to worried about power compared to his ride or anyone elses, just posting an educated opinion.

Exactly what I was thinking Gary, thanks.

The Cali ARB is testing them at the crank and only getting 50hp out of the Outlaw 525. For comparison their Raptor 700R reading was 47hp. If you look around the net at dyno sheets from other outlaw 525 owners 55hp is off in left field for stock rwhp and still high for crank hp.

Don't forget the increased resistance of the IRS setup which means that you'll have more than standard driveline losses and a lower RWHP than on a SRA sport quad.

You may see some Outlaws out there when they come out with a 450 class version.

Until then you will only see them in the Open classses.

There are a lot of factors when DYNO testing......

California isn't much of a stretch from Central Oregon...

KTM claims 51.5 crank hp for thier 525 atv application according to ATV Sport. Debate about atvs is good, it helps each of us learn more about our own machines and others on the market. I just didn't want an unsuspecting person to mistake those numbers as a legitimate representation at standard conditions of the majority of stock outlaw 525s. I'd feel similarly inclined to speak up if someone was claiming 50 rwhp from a stock 700R or any similar situation.

I wouldn't think twice about a dyno being a few hp off but this is quite a bit off. It's fine if it's being used as a tuning tool to compare power output before and after modifications I simply didn't want someone to mistake his numbers as an accurate representation of actual rwhp.

Thanks for looking out for the unsuspecting. I am sure they are grateful.

Hmmm, one's dyno'd in the morning, and the other in the afternoon heat. One's dyno'd with slicks, the other with ITP Holeshots. One has a stock air filter, the other...someone slipped a K&N and re-jetted it.

Don't believe it unless you see the "controls" on how the test was performed.
