The up front cost is higher, but you really get a whole lot more for the price difference compared to the other 450s. The fully adjustable a-arms and Ohlins suspension alone would cost at least $1500 to add to another 450. Then you've got the anti vibe steering stem, hydralic clutch, adjustable axle, high capacity gas tank, braided lines, high flow airbox, high flow exhaust, dampener mount, maxxis tires, douglas rims, really soft seat, REVERSE gear, TONS of power, and it's lighter than the Yamaha. 351lbs with fluids minus gas. I'll take one for my next quad. The question is will this KTM be enough to get the other companies to step it up. I'm not saying they're lacking, but you are getting a lot of quad for the price with the KTM.</end quote></div>
they lied about the weight
it isnt 351.1lbs, its really 359 lbs. They don't know how to convert kilograms into pounds. Braided lines are stock on the ds450. adjustable axle is useless unless you ride both MX and trails. Same with the adjustable a-arms- why would you want to adjust the camber or caster (i forget what the term is) Just make sure that the tires are set up the right way in stock form.
Antivibe and steering dampers stuff are for p*****s- deal with the pain. same goes for reverse- if you arent strong enough to make a 345lb quad do a 180 then you really shouldnt be riding- 345lbs is still light even if you are tired and having armpump.
What is the stock width at its widest- 48" im guessing you can adjust it between 46 and 48" but that still isnt good enough- the best race quads are about 50" wide.
the Shocks- they are nice, but i would still get fox float X evol's to save a few pounds.
soft seat and hydraulic clutch is nice but not necessary.
600 you can get a pipe for a ds450X, and the hydraulic clutch will be cancelled out by the ds450x skid plates, the ds450X also already has good stock rims

Well boys... I went down to my KTM dealer the other day to look at something else entirely... and wouldn't you know it... the first thing when I walked in the door was a 525XC.
All I can really say is holy crap batman...
I'm here to tell you right now... KTM and this bike have the goods right out of the box on these quads.
They got the stuff and that's just all the heck there is to it. PERIOD.
Unless there are some horrible demons hidden inside the machine somewhere, EVERYONE has to go back to the drawing board now.
Everybody.
The dealer quoted me $8,999 for the 525XC and said he thought the other models would be similarly priced.
No doubt $8,999 is a lot of money......
But to be dead honest about it, I don't think you can buy any other machine and make it anywhere near equal with the money saved spent on mods.
I've seen $12,000 quads that were not in this ballpark.
If you ride ***** to the walls agressive and will modify a quad... just accept reality and go get a KTM because you will come out cheaper.
All I can really say is holy crap batman...

how wide are they in stock form..... for some reason KTM doesnt want to tell us
probly 46inches wide like like the others- what a waste of money to get adjustable a-arms and axle but still only 460" wide
