[b]GE4x4,

Glad you said something man... I got to checking your photo page and clicking your links... and I said to myself... what are the odds??? You actually have the Polaris with IRS I was going to look at when I found to my surprise that the KTM's had already arrived.

They actually had just one left with the IRS... a black 525... but they had a rider dummy on it.

Obviously you take the quad seriously... so what do you think about it? Everything you can think of...
I like the trail clearance and the idea that it might ride better....

For the trail systems I ride, It would be real tuff to go back to a SRA. The ride and clearence just made the riding much more enjoyable. Looking at getting the 08 525irs right now.

Yeah, I noticed the brawn too after I got past the Olins shocks, etc...

Did you notice it already has a built-in mount for the steering dampner?
KTM already has one of their own as an accessory you can get too.

On a side note, the black wheels are actually Douglas aluminum rims, and if you will notice, instead of the typical setup they use a nylock type fastener. Not a big deal for the most part, but having have raced I can appreciate that. It allows you to mount your wheels to a spare hub assembly. Then if you have a flat... ZAP... one center nut off to change a tire.

crazy1291 - Jacob,

Are you trying to be a troll? You're ripping into this bike, but have you ridden one?

I just think it is strange that a guy who rides a 250 is ripping on the new bike so bad. You very opinionated about this topic. You seem to know everything about what a high performance sport bike should be.

Many of your comments are strange. IE:
"I also like a wider machine like the LTR.... until I get into tight woods" - but you ride a DS250 that comes with a narrow axle.
Why would anyone want an ajustable axle or a-arms? Well, how about the stock geometry can be adjusted to what ever the rider likes best. Not just for switching from MX to XC. That's a way cool feature.

People are iterested in the KTM handling and suspension, we know about its power since its engine is already running around in the Outlaws.</end quote></div>

FYI - What I've heard is that it is not the same engine. KTM decided to go with an all new 525cc motor with technology that is 2 years newer that that used for the Outlaw. The new engine puts out more power.

why claim to be race-ready if it isnt though. Just by comparing the specs on the quads you can tell that the current ktm quad isnt 100% mx ready, its closer to being race ready than the others, but just isnt as good as a fully raceprepped 450 with several thousand dollars into it.

That is false. The KTM525 is the same engine as the Outlaw 525. The only difference is the muffler, air box, and cdi.

Can't you see the 2 letters after 525? They are XC. The 525 is race ready for XC in which most people who ride sport quads are trail riders. This is not a race ready mx quad. If it was, it would have MX as the 2 letters. That will take place for 09. The KTM is race ready period, your just looking at the mx side and not the xc side.

Did some digging, but not enough info on the net yet to say one way or the other. They do appear to have the same case and similar carbs. I was just commenting on what the KTM rep said when he brought out the quad to preview. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the reviews.

My bad on the MX remark. I guess I added that in. But having fully adjustable A-arms or Axles seems a pretty cool feature. Not everyone will be happy with a single setup, and this feature makes it so you could adjust it to fit your riding style (without forking out extra $$$).

Race ready - what exactly is the complaint? Looks to me that the bike has everything needed to legally race. Plus it includes a lot of extras to make is ride better.
