Default 400ex electrical problems!!!!

I have a 2001 400ex. Left the key on and the battery was dead when I went to charge it it wouldn't take a charge. Bought a new one. Here is the prob, I hooked the battery up, lights work but the neutral light doesn't come on also, when I hit the start button........ nothing happens! The starter doesn't drag, solenoid doesn't pop... NOTHING! NOT A SOUND!!!! Where do I start?? Ignition switch, start switch, CDI box??? What do you guys think???
Thanks in advance,
Chad

With out a neutral light, the starter wont spin, unless the clutch is pulled in.
Is it really in neutral, but the light just isnt working?

You don't have to be in neutral to start it with the clutch pulled. See if that works, and at least you can ride it until you sort out the N light issue.

Yeah thats just it, it's in neutral. I pushed it in the garage to check out the problem. Like I said the head lights work, but when you hit the start button nothing happens. It's as if there wasn't a battery on the thing! It's really odd! The day I rode and washed it, the only thing I did was leave the key switch on and didn't realize untill the next weekend. It just doesn't make any sense. If I had gotten water in one of the electrical componets, is seems to me it would not have fired up after I washed it. It's driving me CRAZY!!!

It did sit for a week after I washed it though. The clutch doesn't have to be pulled in to start it in neutral. It just seems strange to me that this happened. ( For sale-----Good Quad Needs Battery) JOKING!!!!!!!!!!!

Is the kill switch completely centered? The wife stepped up from a Bayou 300 to a Honda Rancher and this would get her everytime. Hers is pretty sensative as well. Needs to be dead center.

With the neutral light make sure its seated in the case and the plug is seated
