The banshee is pretty much dead in the water now a days. I just recenty draged one that was bored out to 510cc, with my yfz450(only mod was a slip on pipe).

OK we get it Kangaroo kid, I personally have never seen any quad faster than a Banshee, but I guess I haven't seen that much then. Being a big fan of snowmobiling, I've always loved 2-strokes; and a quad with a 2-stroke E-Tec 600 twin would be just dandy, and dangerous without making it a little longer and wider than your usual 4-stroke sport quad. But a 350 twin is plenty powerful, although the direct injection would be nice...

So why, would Yamaha make a 500cc twin 4 stroke, when they have the 686cc single? This quad you speak of hasn't been included in the 09 lineup, might want to check your sources.

wow I was hoping as bieng a yamaha fan my whole life that they would never do away with the two stroke. we as riders have kinda brought that on our selves. I would not discredit the fours since they do have there pluses like on the tighter tracks they are awsome. they have killer suspension for that. As for myself I own a couple of banshees and refuse to give them up. they are easier to tune on and they have endless possibilitys for the speed freaks. I have seen a few realy fast 4 strokes also. BY the way that 4 stroke bansh mentioned her a few times it was to see if they would regain the banshee fans and if they would by it like they bought the origanals. It most likley will never be built. yamaha is going to privatly sell the name and desighn to a unnamed at this time company. so we all have our fingers crossed but time will tell.

1. Yamaha never quit making the banshee it is still being made. Every year a new model comes out just not in the U.S.. I dont know why everyone keeps saying they no longer make it. Look at Yamaha for other country's it shows 07, 08, 09.
2. As for it being the king sport quad. You would have to be stupid to say it isn't. It's unchanged for over 20 years. No other quad can get 90 HP on a stock cylinder with out spray or turbo. Infact your not getting over 70 HP on ANY of these new 450's with out a $hit ton of money and thats if its even possible. Hell a bolt on ported cub is over 120 HP some twin shees are over 160HP. BANSHEE'S ARE THE FASTEST SPORT QUAD PERIOD!!! Not stock, but who the hell brags about being faster stock. For a comparison on stock. My stock shee would slightly lose in a drag to a 450. With pipes it was up to rider. With a $400 dollar port and pipes your going to have to spend THOUSANDS on a new 4 joke to get even. Add a $400 stroker crank and some other bolt ons and there is really isnt much you can do to any of these new sport quads to get even. There isnt any potential to these new motors. They simpley took the boreing old 4 strokes we used to have made them more high strung worked the hell out of them and managed to get them slightly faster then a stock choked up banshee. Not impressive at all. Oh and the also lightened every dam part on the suspension.

My bike now is a stock cylinder dune port 4 mill stroker with carbs, pipes, and some other mods. Compare a worked 450 it still isnt even close ill pull it every where. The only place Ill give a 450 its respect is the mx track. As for the 250 R great quad owned the mx track but when you compare power it is out matched to a banshee. Mod for mod there isnt a 250R that will be faster. If your looking for the fastest time on a mx track then a new 450 if you want the all time king of motor get a shee.

I just got stupid reading that. You cant bore a banshee to 400 but you found on bored to 510 and beat it with a 450 with a pipe. Well I have 385 that will absolutly embarras you. Problem is most people with banshee's cant jet, lie about mods, AND DONT KNOW WHAT THE HELL THERE TALKING ABOUT. A 510 would have to be a cheetah kit and that would be over a 120 HP quad but your 40 HP 450 with a pipe was faster. Uh yea.
