Can anybody help me figure out what to sell my quad for?
Hey, I got a 1987 Honda TRX250X that I wanna sell. It was recently rebuilt and is bored .080" over, and has AC Pro Peg nerfs, full skids, a 400EX front end (including shocks, a-arms and tie-rods), Maxxis Razrs all around, a UNI air filter, Powermadd handguards, MSR bars, a PRM front bumper, newer axle bearings, shock covers, a N-Style gripper seat cover, a Hella light with cover, and a few other small things that I can't think of at the moment. The only downside is that there are a couple cracks in the plastic. Other than that it's great. Anyone have any idea how much it's worth? I paid $1400 a few months ago, and put money into it. I can't find any retail values anywhere. Any help/guesstimates would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Well, I'm in "buyer mode" right now, so I think I can help.
For me right now when it comes to Honda quads, I know they hold a pretty good value down to a point and then just stay worth a thousand or so...
But for me, the limit on a used honda sport quad has to be under $3,000 PERIOD.
Why... because the plastic changes created a lot of left-over models that can be had cheap.
It's pretty easy to find a NEW '06 300EX for $2,999.
So you have to be in the teens at max, else it doesn't make a lot of sense. Also, mods on a quad can be a double edged sword.... maybe worse on that old of a quad...
Some people think "great" while others feel uncomfortable about them because they would rather do or have it done themselves for piece of mind... and for others, they may just not like the mod choices.
Myself I look for one in good condition visually and excellent condition mechanically.... good fit-n-finish on mods... good tires.... ready to ride ~ needs nothing.
I'd say the parting it out is probably worth more than the bike is for sale honestly.
I'd say $1,000 to $1,500 max for the quad.
Try to get your investment back out of it I guess....
You paid $1,400 for it... someone else might...

I'd have to agree. friend has a 87 250x also and will be lucky to get $1500 out of it. everything is pretty new on it including the plastics and seat cover. I paid $1600 for my '00 warrior and it is in like new condition. it also depends on your location. check craigslist in your area and it will give you an idea of what to ask for it
