2009 QuadSport Z400 - MSRP: $6,199.00. If the dealer knocks off $200, there you go.

If you must have brand new, diddo on the Z400. For 6 grand though you could get one hell of a quad in the used market. Just think, you can get a decent quad for 6 large new, but you can have like a raptor 700 or any 450 out there the only difference is you won't have put the first miles on it.

z400 may be a good choice. I don't have personal experience on one but, I had a piped EX. It was GREAT for trails but, the mountain climbing???? It tended to peter out a bit. I know the z has a lil' more power but, is it enough? My 450 handled the mountain hills much, much better and was more fun.

If want to keep under $6 G's and buying new guess 450's out of pic anyway but, just a thought.

In terms of "power" to climb hills, you can do anything you want on any machine with gearing....but there is always the tradeoff of when you gear for low end, you are going to lose top end (You mentioned"fast", and that seems to mean top end to most folks).

I have monster hillclimbs behind my house (Reche Canyon). Got to say that I like the 400EX more than the 450R for the nasty stuff. The EX is torquey, and if you bog it down when you have to pop the front over an overhang, the EX doesn't care at all, but the R complains and wants to stall...which would be suicide!
