Just heard from the district manager of the Yamaha dealer in town that
Yamaha is soon releasing a 426 Warrior based on the YZ426F motorcycle
engine. I know him and is a very reliable source. If the handling, etc. is
good I think Honda may need to improve the 400ex!!

If and when it comes out does anyone know or have any idea how much it might cost?

 

This is great. The only problem is that someone needs to explain the definition of SOON to Yamaha. My trusty Webster's says - "at once, without undue time lapse,in a prompt manner,speedily..." I don't think that any of these fit Yamaha's time schedule. I predict you'll see it around 2001 in spring or summer, though I hope it is sooner. It's truely an exciting time to be an ATVer isn't it?

Mike Belasco, can you say $5900? Just a guess, if & when. I think if anything at all happens it will be the 426R engine, which is basically the same as the yz, only detuned somewhat but still a bomb.

Cal, I know your talking about the WR engine when you say 426R, but how is that going to happen? From what I know Yamaha doesn't make a WR426, only a YZ426 Just a though to chew on

I wish Yamaha would hurry up and get with the program. I own a '90 Warrior and while its a good bike I'm getting tired of getting dusted by my buddy's Honda 400ex. I want to wait and see what Yamaha comes out but the waiting is getting tiresome and my have to switch to Honda.

 

These next few years should prove to be interesting. I dont know how true this is but i heard something that Honda may be coming out with a 500cc 2-stroke (like i said it is just hearsay) I am still curious about what coming in december. Really like to see Yamaha come out with a new sport quad soon
