Warrior Tires
#11
mxrider,I run BanditsXC's all around on my 97 Warrior. In fact, I just installed the 2nd set of rears and I won''t run anything else. They hook up better than anything I've tried & wear quite well. My 2nd set of rears is due to my blowing out a Douglas Red Label rim, so I just ordered 2 new tire & rim Combos. Incidentally, the XC tire in that little episode came thru without a scratch, thanks to the Kevlar belt that runs from bead to bead.
If you plan to replace all four tires, I'd strongly recommend the Bandit XC's in front also. They'll allow you to carve turns like you are on rails, even in hard pack like we have in Az.
As to the size difference, Warrior's geometry calls for22x7x10 in front & 22x10x9 in rear. That's stock oem size. My rears are 20" for two reasons; one is that they're the tallest the pure port makes "), & the other is that I got away from the balloon tire roll over effect in aggressive turns. Depending on your riding style, you may want to go to a 14 tooth counter shaft sprocket to adjust for the smaller tire height. That would counteract the shorter gear ratio. If you're looking for more low end for hole shots, etc., then stick with the 13 tooth. In my case I went to a 15 tooth for cc and desert, & low end wasn't a priority.
One caution, tho, if you go with the Bandits be sure to get the Kevlar XC's; they're only $5 more, & you get the equivalent of a TEN PLY tire!
