Warrior or 300EX?
#1
Hey, I'm either gonna buy a Warrior or a 300EX pretty soon and I was wondering which is better? I know the warrior is faster but is it worth how heavy it is over the 300? Please tell me a little about each of them.

The weight difference is minimal. If you have a blaster the 300EX and Warrior will seem like Tanks in comparison. Both are fun bikes and the EX does have a tighter turning radius than the Warrior. If you ride dunes alot you wont be happy with either but the Warrior is the better duner of the two. This debate has been hashed to death here and in the magazines. Warrior riders will tell you their bike is better and faster and EX riders will tell you their bike handles better and the Warrior isnt that much faster. So put on your hip waders and prepare to be flooded with BS from both sides. My advice buy whichever one you can get the best price on and go riding!

B2000,
The Warrior is not that much heavier than the 300EX.
Given the choice, I would take the 300EX for the following reasons:
1. Reliability: Better out on the trails than in the shop.
2. Better handling: It feels lighter to steer, and I like the suspension better.
3. Reliability:
The Warrior may be a little faster in top end, it depends on how important that is to you.

I think you need to ride both before you buy. I own a 99 Warrior and I swear by these bikes. I have owned three different Yamahas and have never had a problem. The Honda is also a great machine. I had a very hard time finding a Warrior and even a harder time finding the 400EX. Both bikes are excellent. I would go for the extra 50cc w/ the Warrior unless you want to up it a little bit and get into the 400EX. Forget about the 300EX. You might get a little bored with the smaller motor. Either way you look at it there are a lot of modifications for both and since the Warrior has been around a while now, some might say its a little more proven out in the trail.

How could you say forget about the 300. Out of the two magazines i read (DirtWheels and ATVAction) they said the 300 was better for trails than any other sport bike. I could smoke a Warrior or a 400ex in anywhere but a dragrace. The motor may seem small but not with a FMF Megamax And a Jet kit. With those two small mods i could beat any warrior or 400ex trails or track.

One big fact to consider when buying any new Yamaha sport quad.(Warrior or Banshee)
These quads maybe brand new, sitting here in the showroom today. But the design is over 14 years old. Come on Yamaha. Get with the times.
A lot has changed in the last decade. If you don't believe me. Go and ride a 2000 EX and Warrior. Night and day.
Hands down, EX is the winner.

i, like you, had a blaster before my 400ex, and my dad had a warrior, i could tell a big difference in the two, mainly the weight and the bend on the handlebars...another thing is that to me the warrior seemed narrow yet tall..i was not to comfortable with that, the 300ex and 400ex to seem like they have a little width to them...i just have this tipping sensation when turning at high speeds on the warrior...then again its just my opinion..i'd go with the 300ex

Interesting topic. Just sold 99 Warrior for 400ex. I had Warrior for 8 months, best friend has 97 300ex. He bought a White Bros E series and a uni filter. He then bought a 250x honda cam and had it installed. He then could get around me. I bought a 10.25 to 1 piston and White Bros 390 cam w/ titanium springs, uni filter and air box mods. He did air box mods, Works triples w/ cans and ultracross rear w/ can, Razr tires, and new Maier plastic. I bought a White Bros E series pipe, rejet w/ 150 main, gbc shredder rears. I could get back around him in a drag, but he couls way outhandle with the shocks. He then bought a 305 kit w/ new cam and piston and bored. Could walk me in a drag race by 5 bikes. I bought a 400ex and can beat him by 2 bikes and have a little more suspension even though his is better. PS the Warrior weighs WAY more than the 300ex. I would say 30 lbs easy. Both bikes are cool stock, but are great when fixed up. It just depends how much you want to spend. If I had to do it over again, I would go with the 300ex because of the weight and suspension. Of course, now that I have a 400ex, there is no comparison, but that wasn't the question.
