why no more 250r's?

i am a 2 stroke lover also. i have been reading about quads since the 86 250r came out. its a shame they stopped making that quad. i have only owned two quad in my life, but 2 stroke, a blaster and a lt250r. thinking about buying a scrambler 400 now. i won't go anything but two stroke unless there comes a time where i have no choice. one thing is bothering me.... what the heck is a gas gas????? never heard of one.

You are as dumb as the first guy on this list.
Say what you want about Polaris quads but to make fun of others who may not be as fortunate as yourself shows YOU are mentally handicapped.
In fact it makes me sick to think people put me in the same "group" as you because we have the same hobby. I can only imagine how proud of yourself you must be.

In early 1980's Yamaha had the Seca 650 with a turbo. It was a 1800's version of the crotch rocket. If you are rich, $13,000 gets you a 250r called a rebel star, but it uses a rotax engine instead of a Honda engine. They still exist. A person could piece one together entirely from aftermarket parts and from Honda dealers who advertise in Dirt Wheels, ATV Sport, ATV Action. It, too would cost alot. Supposedly, Kawasaki will have a KLF250 in 2001.

what was implied by the remark about the diasbled was that this sport, for the most part, requires full use AND function of all bodily movements. arms hands, legs, feet and sight. the construction of a quad with an automatc transmission makes the sport available to more disables persons than ever. however some of us prefer the feel that we have more control of the machine.
ever seen many disabled persons on 2- wheelers? dirt bikes? i've met a deaf rider. but usually most other disabilities hamper their riding ability.
i've seen 'em on skis and snowboards, but many times assisted, and never on unpatrolled slopes.
maybe we need to start a program to get disabled persons riding.... put them in remote controled pilots? or on scramblers? ...then again maybe not... they don't need any more injuries.
i still believe an automatic is for a lazy person too, sounds kinda boring to me

Dual-Sporter and hakmaster,
Are you guys really that ignorant, or are you just trying to look cool in front of your friends? Cause its not working (your ability to make friends that is). How stupid can you be? Dual-sporter states "what was implied by the remark about the diasbled was that this sport, for the most part, requires full use AND function of all bodily movements. arms hands, legs, feet and sight. the construction of a quad with an automatc transmission makes the sport available to more disables persons than ever. however some of us prefer the feel that we have more control of the machine." Hello McFly, I challenge you to find one disabled person that would prefer to be disabled rather be able bodied. I am sure they would rather have more feeling and control of the machine as well. I think physically disabled riders should be commenended on even attempting to ride a quad. Dual Sporter, why not learn to use the English language to your advantage, instead of opening your mouth and proving to the world that you are mentally handicapped. "ATV require full use AND function of all body movements" Exactly what does this sentence mean? It would seem to me that if you have full USE of all body parts, then they must function as well. And what kind of body movements are you talking about? Walking, running, tapping your fingers? It would appear that Dual Sporter had a body movement of the BOWEL kind just before he opened his mouth. (hope you brushed!!)Hakmaster seems to equate mental disabilities with physical. I mean it seems that if a disabled person wanted a sport quad to ride, then Polaris is the only place to go. So that would in fact make him smart. And if you really think Kawa is going to build a production 250 2 stroke, well then son, you really are in idiot. California is about to ban the sale of 2 strokes and 40% of the atvs sold go to California. So what does that tell you? I do think you have an interesting, if misleading name. hakmazter, yet you are on AOL? Yea your a hacker for sure...
And again Dual Sporter shows his ignorance with this pathetic statement"i still believe an automatic is for a lazy person too, sounds kinda boring to me" Ever ridden a built 400 Scrambler? I would doubt it. They are very fast and I have seen a few beat banshees soley because it did have the automatic. And exactly how do you "ride" a pilot. I believe you sit in them. Silly boy.
So before you guys decide to talk that kinda trash over the net, I know you must feel empowered by the net, why not think about what your going to say, then SHUT UP!

Hey roost king, What you said is all correct, I could not have said it better myself. I couldn't help but notice that you said you were from Cheyene. I'm now in Laramie attending college. I've been here for about a month now and do not know anyone, except for a few class mates. I have been taking my Jeep up to Happy Jack and have done a little four wheeling there. I wasn't aware of all the quad riding opportunities around here. When I go back to Texas for Thanksgiving, should I get my 4-wheeler or will there be any time to ride before it gets cold here. Do you ride your quad all year round? Who knows maybe we could go riding sometime.

It's getting to a point in time that a 4-stroke motor can almost make the same amount of power as a 2-stroke and weight the same as well. Yamaha's yz426f, 5 valve, aluminum block motor makes crazy amounts of HP and torque.(if i knew the exact #'s, i'd post em) Point being, with emmisions laws cracking down in the US, manufactures have to find ways of reducing pollution, but making more power at the same time. What does that mean? Well it means that in the next five years we will see fuel injection, modular motors and four strokes that weight less than two strokes. There is nothing wrong with two strokes. But there is way more people out there that care about the enviroment, than people that love the smell race fuel in the morning. If you love the sport enough, you will evolve with it. It's the only way it's going to happen. So we all just have to live with it.
