I have an '88 230 quadsport. It is bored .30 over, it has a K&N Air Filter and a Cobra Jet Pipe. It still has the stock jetting. I was wondering if it is to lean? What is the stock jetting? And if it is to lean how can I rejet the carb to make it not to lean or to rich.

Thanks in advance.

LT230s,
ok, here's what to do-- call a Suzuki dealer parts dept. & ask what the stock main jet is.then pull the jet & see what it is. if it is the stock one, then, yes, it's surely too lean. With a pipe & a filter upgrade, you need to go two sizes fatter on your main (while your're on the phone with the dealer ask them what the next two sizes fatter are just in case you already have one or the other in your bike.
While you have the carb off or loose, you should also slip the slide out to see where the needle jet is set. It should be in the center of 5 slots. DON'T LOSE THE CIRCLIP!
after you've done all this..up 2 sizes on the main, etc.,then you can ride the machine 1/2 mile or so at 3/4 throttle or so (you don't have to be in top gear, just 3/4 gas in any gear) then shut it off without putting around at low speeds and take a plug reading. If the electrode is a nice chocolate brown, you did a good job & you're jetted right. If the electrode is gray or white you are still lean..if it is black it's too rich.I'm speaking of the electrode, not the ring at the top of the threads..that's always dark. You don't show an e-mail address in your profile or I would have mailed you this whole tale cuz it's probably boring to others. e-mail me if you need more info.
