You guys arguing crack me up. Isnt the idea to have a GOOD TIME!!!! If you all take it that serious, you need to find another sport.
Who cares who is faster. All machines are built for different purposes. Appreciate the fact you and your buddies can go out and have a good time.

I probably speak for the others here in saying that my msg and most of the others were posted with a smile, it's all part of the fun.

How much fun would the world be if Chevy and Ford fans couldn't Raz each other about which is better, it's the same thing we are doing here. I ride with some Banshee's and they do gloat a little when we drag race, but I return the favor when we hit our private track. All of us here enjoy the sport, we are all competitive, we all love our machines. What better combination is there for stirring up a little crap between buddies? A little rivalry is not a bad thing.

Wonder how long until we start to see the "Pi-- on Honda", "Pi-- on Yamaha" etc. stickers on the gas tanks?

I'm with dune scooter, just ride and have fun. As far as the age old question of which is faster, I ride a 1999 400ex, where I ride there is a guy with a very tricked out Banshee who does nothing but putt around and talk about what mods he has done. I have never seen him get on the gas or get out of 3rd gear. Now, what good does it do for him to tell me how fast his bike is? It's a moot point.

I too just spent last weekend at glamis. i took my 400ex and drove it 1400 miles to get there. let me tell you, it was worth the trip. i went up every hill i tried, raced at the drags, comp and olds.
i run a wb pipe, k/n filter, jets, revkit.
i ran with 3 friends who had banshees, and i will say yes they beat me in the drags but not by much, they too were piped, and mild mods.
but out in the dunes, i had no prob keeping up, or going anywhere they wanted to go. one day while sitting atop a large dune i let them give it a run. they all came back with the same response, "that bike rides nice and as much power to do anything i want without getting tired".
i love banshees and two stroke power band, but along with it comes alot of effort to do what you want when you want.
i love my push button start and not having to mix my gas on the 400, and on a night beer ride through the dunes, its just the ticket.
thats just my opinion!

Here in south jersey its all sand and i ride mostly sand dunes with my 400 and i dragged a couple of banshee. yea, i hung in there(by like 10 quad lengths!) the 400ex is not that great in the sand compared to a 2-stroke. anyone who thinks the 400 is faster than a banshee in sand and hills are crazy!

My brother and I took our quads to Silver Lake Dunes. His 400EX ran really great I thought. We switched off a couple of times and it was fun riding his. It was hard to get used to climbing a big hill on his though. All of a sudden putt, putt. Oh yeah downshift duh! The Scrambler spoils me
c-ya,
ps> Those Banshees are a tough customer in the sand. On hardpack dirt I can hold my own fairly well. But the wild powerband of the Banshee & the heavy weight of my Scrambler in the soft sand, makes the Banshee look fast.

This was an image from an article of them installing a twist throttle on a 400ex.
