Which to get "Big Bore"
#13
I have never rode a XX so I cannot comment on it. However I will say this of all the bikes I have owned the Raptor is by far and hands down the best bike I have ever trown a leg over. It fits MY riding style perfect and is a great allaround performer! with a basic 3 mod setup there will not be much that can run with it ESP for the same price or dollar for dollar!

There is a replacement for displacement (light weight and engine design), so don't get sucked in by the number "700"!
I have several friends who have both a 450 and a Raptor's 700. Tell my why the wife always ends up riding the Raptor, and the guys always jump on the 450's?????
If you don't fit the YFZ very well, then take a good look at all the other 450's out there. Like I said....they fit your riding style.

Oh please, I ride with a huge group of Raptors and Nobody with a 450 can touch the raptors. Hills, dunes, etc. For all around riding nothing beats a Raptor. If it's not a "Honda 450r or 400ex don't touch it". Garbage talk right there, Bologna! Reconranger, your opinion of the Raptor is very scewed. I don't know where you get the idea that it's tippy at all. The 660's yes but that was fixed with the 700r. The 700's handle awesome, I see it first hand all Dune season long. And to set the record straight the guy is asking is what big bore he should get and to answer that, the Honda 700 or the Raptor would both be awesome in this situation. You need to be more open with your opinions.

Any of those Raptor/450 owners, will tell you that the Raptor is faster off the line (but you better be careful to hold that front end down!!!), and the 450's are faster on the top end. Depends on what kind of riding you want to do......
Gentlemen.....straight line drag race speed isn't everything!!! Throw in a few turns, and everything changes. The Raptor is a muscle car, and the 450's are sports cars. The Raptor carried its weight a little high in the frame, where the 450's have a lower center of gravity and 50 pounds lighter. "Big bore" is just marketing hype for the inexperienced and uninformed!
Again....the 450's will fit his riding style very well!

I'm 6'3" and have thrown my legs over a few sport quads just to see how they feel seating-wise and how stiff the suspension is. I don't think I would be comfortable on the present crop of 450s for too long. My legs were cramped on these machines. I've sat on the Polaris 525 IRS and the Honda 700xx and both felt more comfortable and had stiffer suspensions than the 450s. I realize the 450s are made to have a low center of gravity for racing but it doesn't sound like TooFastForYou is talking about that. I haven't been on a Raptor yet but I can tell you it is bigger than the 450s and looks to be a better seating angle for a bigger guy. Just my opinion. If someone gave me a 450 I'd give it to my son and let him go crazy. I'd also charge him $5 for every time a 2wd straight axle can't get over boulders or through the mud. Just my .02.
