I don't see how 6-1/220 is too big for a 450 at all.....There are professional racers who are just about that big........... I have seen many people bigger than that on a 450 machine...... I know a guy who is 6-3/275 and he rides a YFZ just fine, and he rides it very well. It all matters on how comfortable you are on the machine. The Raptor 700 is a great machine, but it is NOT that much bigger than a YFZ. People seem to think that just because it is a "big bore" that it is so much bigger, but its not........If you can fit on a Raptor 700 you should fit on a 450cc machine just fine.

If you really want bigger the KFX700 is huge, its like a 2wd utility machine....it is bigger than a 450.......

I ride an 08 LT-R 450.... I'm about 6-1, 200lbs, and it's fine for me, very comfortable in fact. I felt RIDICULOUSLY squished on Raptor 350 however....

Well I plan on buying a quad sometime this week,

I have been doing a lot of reading and such, since I'm getting back into the sport

I had my mind made up between the Honda 700XX or the Raptor 700R, until I started talking to people, and they all swore by the YFZ 450, And also said the both of those 700's are horrible.

the 450 just looks kinda small,

I am 6'1 220

This is my riding style,

mostly on a paved road, gravel road, or a flat field

I dont too much jumping.

I like big Top end, And huge acceleration.

So with that being said whats the best for my riding style.</end quote></div>

Interesting how he lumped these two radically different machine together, just because they are "700 big bores". One is a classic SRA sport quad design, and the other is a heavy IRS machine....yet either one must be magical in some way, because after all, they are "big bores"!

I have several friends who have both a 450 and a Raptor's 700. Tell my why the wife always ends up riding the Raptor, and the guys always jump on the 450's?????

If you don't fit the YFZ very well, then take a good look at all the other 450's out there. Like I said....they fit your riding style.</end quote></div>

Oh please, I ride with a huge group of Raptors and Nobody with a 450 can touch the raptors. Hills, dunes, etc. For all around riding nothing beats a Raptor. If it's not a "Honda 450r or 400ex don't touch it". Garbage talk right there, Bologna! Reconranger, your opinion of the Raptor is very scewed. I don't know where you get the idea that it's tippy at all. The 660's yes but that was fixed with the 700r. The 700's handle awesome, I see it first hand all Dune season long. And to set the record straight the guy is asking is what big bore he should get and to answer that, the Honda 700 or the Raptor would both be awesome in this situation. You need to be more open with your opinions.</end quote></div>

Any of those Raptor/450 owners, will tell you that the Raptor is faster off the line (but you better be careful to hold that front end down!!!), and the 450's are faster on the top end. Depends on what kind of riding you want to do......

Gentlemen.....straight line drag race speed isn't everything!!! Throw in a few turns, and everything changes. The Raptor is a muscle car, and the 450's are sports cars. The Raptor carried its weight a little high in the frame, where the 450's have a lower center of gravity and 50 pounds lighter. "Big bore" is just marketing hype for the inexperienced and uninformed!

Again....the 450's will fit his riding style very well!</end quote></div>

get out of here with this crap. "big bore" is just marketing hype. i am in no way a inexperenced rider or uninformedrider.i started at 4 1/2 years old on a honda minitrail 50. was riding elsenor 125s by the time i was 8. got a lt250 when i was 15, got a custom cr500 3wheeler when i was 16,a 660 raptor when i was 21 only to get rid of it a year later for the 700 and now at 25 have 2 raptors. ive road almost EVERY sport quad ever made and the raptor 700 is the best all around bike i have ever road. with a 2+2 front and and a +5 rear my raptor handles like no tomarrow.

A Honda 700xx with mild upgrades won the Baja 1000 this year. Sounds like a good, powerful quad to me. Weight isn't an issue so much if you have the power to push it. Weight is good for traction too. I'll take a strong, powerful (and if need be) heavy machine that will last over a light quad that will bend. I'm not saying that any of the quads mentioned will, but a strong quad is a must for me. I really get tired of people who bash others because they don't ride the basher's favorite brand. I've seen Raptors and they are an impressive rig. Meet my personal needs. NO. But that doesn't mean they are useless. If somebody wants the biggest and baddest that's up to them. We still live in a free country. (Although freedoms are being eroded more rapidly now then any time in my 45 years) Ride what works best for you.

Wayne Matlock said that he was 90 seconds faster than the next quad (a 450r) when he won the baja.

I agree with Moose totally on his views of bashing. Everyone buys what is right for them at that particular time and that every machine has it's targeted purpose and audience.

Well done MooseHenden.
