The funny part is that he's 4 years older than me... and his grammar/overall spelling is that much worse... LOL.

The worst is when people mess up there, their, and they're, LOL.

You don't need speed, that is what i thought i needed. When your trail riding nobody races. If you want a fast bike get the 450. That would be plenty of power for you. Get your skills before your speed.

every quad your goint to by wont do much over 75 unless you modifiy the gearing. the 450s definetly get to top speed quicker than anything else but if you like the torque and low end of a 400ex then get a raptro 700 it to is also low geared and has reverse for tight trail spaces although they can be pricey i personally think the 450 is tougher to ride and be fast at than the 700 but once you figure it out they are hard to beat

It sounds like you are a speed rider rather than a lugging torque rider... and also find yourself needing reverse.

Myself, I liked my 400EX for tight trails and still do. But I got spoiled with the reverse on my other quad... and I'm not getting any younger either... plus I spent several years not being able to ride because of a back injury. On top of it all, I also found myself bored with the delivery from the 400EX and really disappointed with the dismal gains after mods.

So I bought myself a Kawasaki KFX 450R. It's more of an excite-bike... It's faster, much-much quicker, and so-so much more responsive. A flick of the thumb and it's on like a light switch. It's high strung and just starts really coming to life right about where the 400EX starts gasping for breath.

Plus... It has reverse... and a super-slick engagement setup to boot.

The steering is also super light and super quick... and it has superb handling to match.
It out handles my 400EX 3-to-1 in bone stock form.
Stock width, stock tires, stock suspension settings...

I highly recommend it.
The only faults I can find so far are...
* It does NOT have the off-idle torque of the 400EX for the real tight/technical stuff.
* It is a much more complex machine, due to all the wiring and sensors that come with the EFI.

If you want to keep the torque while making a step up you'll have to get a newer Raptor 700.

In the end, I agree with whoever said the KFX 700 is a pig.
It's basically a sporty version of the 700 utility.

Have you considered the Honda 700XX. It will do 80 stock and even more power gains when modded. I have a '08 model and it is by far the best ATV I have driven so far. Been on and owned a Craptor 660 and 700, Honda 400EX and 450r, and a Z400. Talk about torque. It's a torque monster. Go anywhere ground clearance also.

why do you guys care so much how people type. don't waste time on a forum when someone wants a real answer by commenting on how they type. its not needed and nobody wants to hear opinions on how they don't approve of people typing just read the forum and if you dont have any advice dont say it

That's fine tfunk. It's not advice for us reading it. We don't care. Most just pass it up and ignore it. I've seen many, many threads with good questions (if you could decipher it) but, nobody would reply because they don't waste time trying to make since of the run on sentences.

I'm trying to help the people who do type like that. I'm not trying to be a english teacher. Just letting people know that they will get more responses when the questions are constructed in a way they are readable. No what I mean?
