I like the DG Race Peg Nerf Bars!!! I also run their Baja skid plates! (They are in Orange County, and I usually just order from them direct,)
As for boots, I was riding a dirt bike yesterday, and got my foot jammed by a root. I was wearing Alpinestars Tech 4's, and that was not enough boot for protecion in this case!!! In the future, I will be wearing Tech 10's or 12's!!!

For boots, I would recommend Alpinestars Tech 3 All Terrain's, minimum! They have a waffle sole, which is great if you do any walking.

Paying $200-500 for a pair of boots, often puts folks off. I notice that Chaparral has some Ocelot boots for around $90. These are entry level models for sure, but on a quad you don't have as high a threat level as you get on a dirt bike. If you can find ones with a waffle sole vs smooth, go with those.

Helmet, Nerfs, Full Skid Protection, and ITP, Maxxis or Kenda tires.
Protect yourself and your quad, and try to minimize getting stranded with a flat.
After that you can decide what needs more work... you, the suspension, or the power delivery.
It usually goes in that order.

If you're like me, you're not fashion conscious and can wear boots that aren't "this years model".
Check out the clearance sections of some of the online suppliers. Heck, I've gotten quite of few jerseys from Dennis Kirk for under 10 bucks cause they were last years design.
