Worth it to step up to a 400?
#1
Hi all, I currently have an 03 SE Warrior that I have done a lot of work to:
(work done by F.A.S.T. racing)
bored 2mm over
JE titanium race piston
stage 2 hotcam with springs
P/P head
clutch
Edelbrock carb
Airbox modded with K&N filter
FMF header and muffler
etc
I'm wanting more power, and now realize I should've just sold the warrior instead of sinking money into it
Would it be worth it for me to step up to a 400 and pipe/jet it? Or would I be better off to jump to a 700 raptor?
The type of riding I do varies between wide open spaces and tight and technical trails, with some climbing and mud.
Thanks!

Heres the ATV HP ratings. The Suzuki 400Z is not on the list but it should have alittle more power then the 400ex and that has almost 10hp over the Warrior stock.
The raptor 700 has much more hp but it will have much more torgue as well. It does not need to screem its guts out to make its power like a 450R would even though they almost have the same hp.

I gotta save that HP chart- I'm always looking for it...
get the 700 and be done with it- by the time you finish upgrading your 400- you'll be at the same price for a stock 700 and you'll be happier with the big bore.

I'd imagine those 700's are a bit heavier- but with an extra 250cc....
asking cause I honestly don't know- most of my experience is with 4x4 big-bore utilities-

can those 450's keep up with the 700? I know the 450's are fast, but we're talking 250cc more (given both riders are experienced)

Don't get me wrong, I have spent enough time on various 700's to know one is welcome in my stable when finances permit. If I am putting a 47" quad through 50" gaps at speed, give me the 450 every time!

yeah some of those numbers are at the wheel, most at the crank.. tlc likes to go by numbers. the reason the 450s run with the 700 is because the 450s are in a higher state of tune from the factory. the 700 is a trail quad but is capable of making more hp with mods then a 450 and a bigger engine usually always has more torque
