Exclamation How can I convince my dad that sport quads are good on trails ?

Good day everyone,
recently I was looking for a new helmet and decided to look around at some local dealers (Honda and Can Am) and after having no success, I thought for fun I'd look at some of their sport quads. I looked at the trx450r and Can Am Ds450 Xmx. It's been a few years since I've driven quads mainly since I switched over to dirtbikes, but after just sitting on the new sport quads I'm interested again !

But I've hit a road block. I ride mainly trails, nothing too technical and not very much mud. My problem is my father won't let me purchase a sport quad because he says that they're no good for the trails

So is there anyway I could convince him that they are good for the trails ? I've heard many pros and reviews say that both of these quads are good on the trails.
Thanks!

Sport quads are great on trails but I would stay away from the 450s. They have race motors that require more maintenance than something else, like a 400. At least that's what everyone says.

There isn't much you can do on a dirtbike that a sport quad can't, unless trail width comes into play. With not a lot of mud or technical trail, doesn't sound like you would ever need 4x4 either. I would show him some video of sport quads trail riding too. Can't hurt.

Utilitys are an overkill on normal trails... They ride and act like a tank, crawling over mini obsticlals that we sport riders may... jump....

And really, my sporties make it through ever bit 'o' mud they hit.... The only reason i'd need one was if i had insanely deep mud and water.....

but still.....

As for 450's, i bought my 400 instead of a 450, for more reliability, and it's been a pain in the butt since i bought it..... If it's been taken care of, a 450 or a 400 would be a good trail bike. I've heard guys that moved from 400s to 450s never want to go back to.... so....

I'm not afraid to hit mud... even with my sport...

Had to scrape some of it off... plastics were sagging!

One thing about the sport atvs, if you go through any mud holes you'll end up wearing a lot more mud than the guys on utilities.

I had an 06 KFX400, the only place I rode it was on the trails. Was never any problems with it.

If you are the one paying for the quad, in the most respectful way you can, I'd point that out to him. My dad didn't agree with every purchase I ever made, but when it came down to it, he knew it was my money.
