The YoDaddy on this site is definitely not the same person on the other site. The guy on this site is 17, the guy on the other site says he has 20 years of racing experience, so obviously, they can't be the same person.

Sometimes ATV news is slow. It has to do with the fact that it shares the same server with snowmobilemews.com and a bunch of other sites. The upside of it is, your user name and password will work on all Powersports sites.

Yeah, thats a different YoDaddy... kinda weird. Some Outer limits crap going on there .

I agree with him to an extent. Nobody can take full advantage of every little bit of power in any quad. But if I hop on a stock 400ex, I'll be a lot slower coming out of corners and leaving the gate than I would if I was on my Cannondale. I may not be able to use all the power, but the power I can use gets me going a lot faster than what the 400ex has. I have a friend that is a better racer than me and I was always able to pull the holeshot on him and I really SUCKED at cornering. He would get right next to me in a corner like he was gonna pass but once we come out of the corner, I easily pulled away from him because I had more power, and the Cannondales rev harder and higher than the 400ex.

Here's where I agree with him... Even though I had more power than him, he was able to pass me because he is just a better rider. In the end, it all depends on rider skill, but either way, even if you can't use all the power, it's nice to have it there. When you hit a wide open track, where there's jumps that I hit wide open 4th gear, the extra power is really nice. I would hate to have to find that last bit of speed for that big jump in 5th gear on a 400ex since the power always seems to suck in the last gear on any quad. Also, when you have a tough jump thats right out of a corner, it would be easier on a higher powered quad. If you had less power, you would have to make the corner perfectly just to have a chance of clearing the jump, but if you have more power, you can stand to be a little slower in the corner and use the quick acceleration to get up the speed to clear the jump.

i agree more with him than you i mean he's not right on but explanes him self alot better than you did and most of what he said is close to true "most people" he did not say all nor did he say you. so i guess i did not read what your real problum was with that post. I have two quads and most of the time i dont use all the power but i have them set up to where the power is in the right places so i can have it when and where i need it. i just think to many people are wanting the quad with the highest top speed and that is just stupid unless all you do is drag.

I guess I'll throw my opinion in here too.

First off, I'm not a drag racer. I've ran 1 drag race in my life, and that was with YoDaddy and an ATC250R.

YoDaddy on atvnews seems to be very wise. I just scanned his post, but I agree with him for the most part. Once again, understand you are reading this from an MX racer's point of view. Back when I raced my Banshee, I thad the very same point of view as YoDaddy(atvnews). The way I look at MY racing, and MY quad is: Unless I have it on the throttle stop, 6th gear, WFO, I dont need a faster quad; I need practice. When I can ride and race a track tapped out, every gear, then I need mods(rebuild as well).

BUT, the speed/power of an MXers quad can limit him on the track. There were many occasions that I would be battling with a modded Banshee, and I was a much faster rider on the track, but his speed allowed him to pull me in the open. I'm also the type of rider that likes small, tight, rhythmic and fast paced tracks.. Alot like Supercross. Here's where 250R's would eat my @$$ all day long. They have enough low end grunt to hurt Banshees out of a corner, and enough mid/top to hang on straights. I say this because the power of my motor has ended up causing me to lose a space or two on the podium. I find myself thinking about what I can do to make my quad faster, when all I really need is to make myself faster. If I would have had practice, I would've been able to get by that guy. It doesn't just take HP in MX. It takes TIME.

Alot of MXers ask me what they can do to make them get faster. Instead of wasting time saying "well, a pipe, some porting, tires, axle, shocks, etc would help", I just simply reply with one word. PRACTICE. A quad is only as fast as its rider. When the riders skill exceeds the speed of the quad, it is time to upgrade. Til then, keep your nuts on the seat, and thumb on the throttle.

Hah! My Pami 760 has more power than you, or I can use! It's nice to have it though.
