Default Best all around quad for....

What do you guys think of the Wolverine for Mudding, jumping, trails, etc.... I am thinking of buying one. I know that it being constant 4x4 is one of its downsides. However I know it is great for getting out of mud jams. What are your suggestions on what I should get. I don't want a utility quad. They're too big and heavy to jump with. I also don't want a Polaris or a prarie 650. I've heard Polaris is not reliable. Do you think the Wolverine would be perfect for the job or is there a new quad out there that is better for the job?

Polaris are not unreliable Ive beaten the s%*t out of mine and the just keep on going.
And for your question, a wolverine would be perfect for the kind of riding you want to do. Its lightweight and pretty good handling. The only problem would be the 3 1/2 wheel drive, if you something with all-wheel drive get a scrambler, the 2-4wd option is nice not having 4wd all the time. Sure its a little heavier but if your able to handle the extra wieght I would go for the Scrammy.

you might want to go to something more sporty like a Z400 except for the mud

mudlizzard,

How much riding experience have you had?

If this is going to be your first quad the Wolverine is a good choice.

But remember I said it first, in one riding season 70--100 hours (if you ride a lot and your skills on the trails improve as most peoples usually do) you will be wanting more than the Wolverine can deliver and will then be wanting or dreaming of the 650 class.

I am not sure why you would knock out the Prairie 650 as a choice when here on the forums lots O people just drool when they ride Kawasaki 650.

You would have gotten more responses if you would have posted this over in the Yamaha forum.

mudlizzard- I think the Wolverine would do whatever you wanted it to do. It would be a good choice.

Yea as Chet has said i think that a P650 would be the right quad for you. I have heard that it jumps good and handles pretty good to. Even though it is a little heavy it is as close as you can get to a Sport atv with the power to go through the deepest mud... And maby you want to wait and see how the new kawi 700 is....
