If you look at Cycletrader.com they have a couple hundred for about $3000, a 250r is only worth the big money if it already has the "goodies". Pipe, swingarm, big bore, extended front A arms, etc.. If it's stock and could use a rebuild, 3000 sounds ok but it better be clean and not in need of a total restoration... Remember it is a 14+ yr old bike and may need *every* bushing and bearing replaced and a fresh powdercoat on the frame which means a summer of fun and lovin IN THE GARAGE.. Could just buy a blaster and put CT racings 240cc kit on it, 40hp on a blaster is much more fun than stripping a bike to the frame

yea i know it would be worth a little more if it already had the goodies but how often do u find a stock 87 250r with the origianl tires in perfect condtion but the only thing this has on it is a silincer that makes it sound better... and an ignition on it i think.. which is off in 5 min... im still thinkin about it and he hasnt put it in the paper yet

eh.. 3000 is about the going rate and a well ridden R. ive seen bone stock Rs that have been sitting for 10 years fetch about 4500. and even if you have an r with all teh goodies you most likely wont be able to fetch more than 5 or 6 grand. its almost better to part the bike out when its time to sell
