this thread has been the biggest laugh i've had on here for a while, i think it's cool at least that everyone's not just talking poop on each other's quads, i've had my very first quad since december, ('03ds650), quads are dope, i'm not the fastest guy out there on my pretty much stock ds but i don't really care who's faster then me, ridin in the dunes just ammuses the sh*# out of me, as for the guy who posted this thread, by the end of the posts i still have no idea what his point is. whatever.. go out n ride people and wait up for us slow guys in the back.... peace, josh...

 

may i say this again. 660cc should have more than 38 hp and not get beat by a 125cc dirt bike. yes they have a lil less hp than a raptor, but weigh less. but if it had the power of a 650cc dirt bike it would have "true" 650 class power. they throw detuned motors in quads and u have to buy sh** for them to have the power they shoulda had stock. i mean look. a 250 dirt bike has about 45 hp. a banshee has 40. its a 350 TWIN. come on. yes down the road when u modify them the the banshee will have the most hp, but u shouldnt have to pay for it. these big bore quads are all HYPE sorry. i owned a raptor, and i was NOT IMPRESSED. ok its fast, but not as fast as it should be. ur paying for the numbers on the tank. o yeah my friend is always bringing his raptor to be fixed to me dad

Son, that actually made sence, and I actually agree with you (except for your HP numbers are off). The Raptor has about 36 HP I believe and the Banshee has about the same probably, I dunno for sure. It truely is sad though. The YZ 250F that I'm gonna buy has 44 RWHP stock. Thats a 250 cc 4-stroke w/ 44 RWHP. Do remember though... a CRF 450 may have about 54 RWHP but it has closer to 40+ RWHP in a quad because it drains more to turn 2 10 inch wide tires. But yes, quads are VERY overly detuned.

 

HP numbers can be weird, some guy on here took his Raptor to a dyno at 31hp.
