Default Warrior Opinions?

Just basic questions such as how is the reliability? How well can it handle mud and hills. Is the steering as heavy as people say it is? Has anybody ever had any engine or transmission problems with theirs? Thanks in advance!

Bought our's new in 92. Only thing I have ever replaced is a new battery every 3 years. It does great in the mountains and alright in the mud as long as it's not to deep. I put a steering damper on it right after we bought it, big help in keeping the handlebar just right. My wife is 5 foot 2 and it's her bike. She handles it just fine.

The Warrior is a great and very reliable, little outdated but a great quad none the less.

The Warrior is very reliable and a decent machine overall. It is outdated now. Steering is fine, never heard anyone say it was heavy. It fits larger/taller people better than most quads in it's class. Mine is now 8 years old - I don't ride it much but it is solid as a rock - never a problems except I'm on the 3rd battery. I would say it's a good machine to buy used but not new anymore. If you are going for new the Z/KFX 400 is the way to go.

My Warrior did feel a little "heavy" compared to other quads that I've driven. The way that the seat to pegs to bars are set up, it takes a little more effort to stand while riding. (cruiser feel) I eventually had problems with the clutch but it was a 1991. If you go to a dealership and sit on a couple quads, you'll be able to tell the difference. Picture something like a 300EX that is lighter and you sit up on the quad a little more. The Warrior is a little heavier and you'd sit down and back just a little.

Thanks guys. I wish I could afford a Z or KFX, but it's definitely gonna be used.

Not everyone can or wants to pay for a new or even used 400. They may want a 400 but for one reason or another, they can't get one. I think that is why there are so many used Warrior's around. The Warrior is kind of like the "next best thing". It is faster than alot of quads but it doesn't do 65/70 mph stock. But it will do 61 mph stock and has reverse and disc brakes. Just lookover whatever you get to make sure it isn't beat.

Warrior is a great all around quad. Especially if you aren't over 6' and don't jump too much. too hard on the knees

It sounds like it will be good since almost all I do is ride some fairly tough trails and mud and dirt roads. Yesterday we found some logging area off of one of the dirt roads around my house and "made" some trails. It wasn't too pleasant. Can the Warrior handle climbing well?

The worst thnig anyone can say about a warrior is that it's an old design... that's not exactly a bad thing. My girlfriend rides a warrior and with a $14 sprocket it will beat 65mph easy with her on it.
