i am 45 years old and i still like to drag race my quad up the local competition hill once in a while just to see how well i can do against some of the other machines.i think that where you get into trouble is if you think you have to ride flat out from the minute you unload your machines,something is eventually going to happen if you ride like that.my wife and i ride most weekends at the oregon dunes and we ride at a moderate pace for most of the day but even my wife who never wanted to drag race up a hill before we built her motor enjoys it once in a while.i think that if most people were totally honest they would admit that the thought of winning a drag race up a sand hill against some very fast quads sounds very appealing .if someone wants to ride slow everywhere they go that is great but if i want to occasionally race up a hill to see how my quad will do against other fast quads that is fine too.if some of you rode my 686 raptor i bet you would stab that thumb throttle a little harder than you think because speed is addictive and that is fine as long as you dont ride recklessly and put others lives in jeopardy.the biggest and most important thing to keep in mind is (NEVER RIDE ABOVE YOUR ABILITY AND SKILL LEVEL) because that will get you in trouble every time.

Hey everybody has a quad faster than my Zilla right now... the crank bearings let go in it yesterday so it is toast once again.... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] Good news though... My new pipe showed up for it today.... does a lot of good huh??? See I don't care about being the fastest, but I do care about having a quad that runs... [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Don't worry raptor8, I understand you guys.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] But it is true about Americans being more competitive. I have never seen anyone really drag race his quad here, let alone build a quad just for dragracing.

You can add me to the list too. I don't care if my friends have faster or slower ATV's. The only reason I buy mods is because I get used to the power and want to feel the rush again. But IMO you can have fun on any quad or 3-wheeler. You can put me on a Raptor80 and I would still have a great time.

No one has the fastest quad. As I learned a long time ago there is always somthing faster, badder, better, tougher, etc.... than you are. I can only hope to be good as the best and better than most.
